Kevin,For me, I still don’t see the advantage to using the programmable thermostat. I turn the heating and cooling manually when I want the heat or cooling to go up or down. For me, this is better than having it p reprogrammed.However, I understand that others, will forget to turn up or down and thus using a programmable thermostat saves them money.If I’m still missing something, please tell me, as I’m always willing to save money.Keep up the good work,David

Hi David,

Every time you raise and lower the temperature, you are using energy. A programmable thermostat allows for fine tuning of the heating and cooling so that there is a program that automatically reduces heating and cooling in your home when you don’t need as much. For example, when you are at work.

Good ideas. However, I personally do not understand the programable thermostat thing. I just turn the heat up when I want it up and turn it down when I want it down – works well for me. I actually have programable thermostats, however, I would rather do as I stated in my prior sentence.
